Urgent Warning Signs: Does My Pet Need a Scan?
Cardiac diseases in cats and dogs are notoriously sinsi (silent). Pets are evolutionary hardwired to hide weakness until it becomes critical. If you observe any of these warning signs, bring them for a scan immediately:
Often sounding like they are gagging or trying to clear their throat. Very common in dogs, especially at night or when resting.
Panting heavily while resting or breathing with an open mouth (especially in cats) is a severe medical emergency.
Sitting down or refusing to walk after very short distances. Lagging behind or acting unusually lethargic.
Sudden, brief loss of consciousness (Syncope), often triggered by excitement, heat, or mild exertion.
